I am 55yrs. old, a single mother and ex military personnel. I was injured during active duty, had to fight the military to get them to do something about it, got my surgery, but was thrown out; got Honorable Discharge, but not military benefits, only VA, which isn't much. I am doing better now, writing christian poetry, refurbishing old furniture,  volunteer at the American Legion as a Service Officer, still on the military Honor Guard as a bugler, 1st female Vice Commander at the American Legion Post 1, and Female Veteran of the Year 2008-2009 for the state of Oklahoma, and on the Mayor's Veterans Action Board.Born and raised right here in Tulsa, OK;my son is 35& went to college down in TX., at Southwestern Adventist University, Keene. While reading to my nieces and nephews one past  Christmas Eve, I was asked how come all the childrens in the Christmas stories have regular names and not names like theirs-that they all are white sounding names and they're not living like them and doing the things they do. So, it's all a fairy tale to them, they said. So, I have written some small short storie for them w/ ethnic names and situtaions and they loved them. I also had made copies for some of my military friends that have children and gave it to them and their kids loved them also and everyone wants more stories. So, I thought I would try it professionally. Update, I am now the 1st female Commander for the Tulsa, American Legion and the 1st minority female Commander for any American Legion in the state of Oklahoma, in 2009. Graduated National American Legion College in 2010. In 2014, I was one of the TOP 25 Finalist for Ms. Veteran America, I received a Congressional Certificate from Congressman Bridenstine for the 10 years of community volunteerism, I am now learning how to turm regular recipes to into vegan recipes with much success and I volunteer at my church local food bank and soup kitchen. And I still speak at schools to get children interested in learning about their country's history, that they aren't being taught in school, learn how bills are suppose to be passed, about the Constitution and Bill of Rights. I also give lesson on Biblical history, about where certain things come from, why we have certain traditions that aren't Biblical and other Biblical information.
