Grew up in the inner city of Detroit, but always wanted to get outside the picket fence. My mother was a big influence on my life through her love of words. When I was sixteen, I was the first black student to integrate an all white school in Traverse City, Michigan. I was influenced by my foster mother, who was a sculptress. She encouraged me to write. 

Writer's Digest Honorable Mention for Self-Publishing, PEN Award, $1,000 in Ebony's First Writing Contest, International Black Writer's Association Award. I do Book Reviews on www.netnoir.com. Was featured in Black Enterprise Magazine April 2001 and Inland Valley News March 29, 2001. In 2008, as an agent, I have negotiated book deals for other writers. I am included in four anthologies published under other companies. I received an honorary doctorate in April 2005, for work in the literary field.
