I am gregarious, but extremely reclusive. Physics was my major in college, however the instant gratification that comes with writing computer software was an irresistable siren call; it lured me into the computer field.  My computer career is laced with stunning successes and equally stunning losses. That's life! At all times I've had an unfulfilled need for creative expression.  Now I have begun to satisfy it. The world is different to my eyes and ears than it is for others. I will interpret a sentence in a different way than most other people. This may be the reason I choose to be frequently alone; I never get my own thoughts wrong! QUESTIONER: "Charles, is the glass half full or half empty?" ME: "The glass is neither half full nor half empty.  The glass is simply too big". Some say "You have to think outside the box".  I ask "What box?" I covet time alone with my wife and two children at our home in Massachusetts. There are two deeply etched stones at the door to my house: one of them reads 'Go Away', the other says 'UnWelcome'.  Those who know me understand that the messages are simply wry jokes, but I don't mind the fact that the stones do seem to deter visiting salesmen and politicians!  Friends are always welcome. It seems natural, after the fact, that I've come to writing; Nathaniel Hawthorne and Geoffrey Chaucer are both in my family tree. I can only hope that my humble efforts do not bring them dishonor and embarrassment. My muse is a fickle beauty, she only comes when all is still and leaves if I don't remain quiet and attentive enough - another good reason to enjoy solitude!
