Murry Handler began his art training in New York City after his discharge from the Navy. He studied under Joseph Kelly at Pratt and Joseph Hirsch at the Workshop School and developed professional advertising and graphic design skills at Franklin Institute of Art. He opened his own design studio in the 1980s, which grew to include a staff of 14 artists and illustrators. Murry's art direction and design frequently won national awards for his clients. His work in design and illustration was cited in the Art Direction Awards for Excellence, Annual Book editions of 1991, 1993, 1995 and 1998. In addition to his Madison Avenue activities, Murry enjoyed teaching young art students at Parsons School of Design and the Fashion Institute, where he held the position of Adjunct Professor.
