You know it's funny, when looking down the well-known list of literary genres, such as the category list on this website, I'm struck by the egregious absence of satire.  I see there is fantasy, humor, horror, science fiction, spirituality; it's quite a list -- but no satire.  When was satire sidelined from of the family of writing classifications in the publishing industry?  Look at any agents or publishers literary categories.  Satire is nowhere to be found.  Where do Swift and Heller fit into the post-satire taxonomy of literary writing?  Perhaps we should search for Gulliver under the book genus, travel and type cast Yossarian as the hero of a war novel.  Trying to pigeonhole my work with contemporary classifications I could say my writing relates to several popular groupings: action/thriller (as exciting as the world around us), fantasy (as bizarre as six billion people running on fumes), drama (my writing has plenty of that), horror (the situations are horrible), mainstream (as seminal as the food we digest and the sex that evades us), memoir (recording is involved), suspense (and what is causing all this mayhem, anyway?), relationships (many I write of are failed), science fiction (it's the twenty-first century), travel (as in space and virtual travel), war (war is ubiquitous), and women (ah, there's the problem).  Still, I don' t think these writing categories quite capture the essence of my work, so I'll have to fall back on poor, orphaned satire.  That is what I write, satire.  To view the video of the full length novel go to URL:    youbetyourskin.com
