I have always been a history junkie. My father was a WWII vet and entered North Africa in November, 1942 and ended in Berlin in 1945. Not much he didn't see. My inspriation for writting came from a local author from Leavenworth named Johnnie Johnston. He was working on his book Leavenworth Penitentiary and ask for insight into the project. As we worked together he was amazed at the photo collection I had collected over the years and encouraged me to write a pictorial history. I have always enjoyed old photos more than the new digital formats. The glass plate, acetate negatives provide a deeper richer photo as well as their black and white profiles provide deeper richer photos. My next project due for release real soon is a pictorial of Ft. Leavenworth. I was stationed there from 1979 till 1982. The fort itself is a mecca of history. It is unbeleivable how much of the western expansion came thru this little fort. Being the institution historian has given me so much insight into the history of U.S.P. Leavenworth. This is one amazing place to work and one amazing piece of American criminal history.

I have been interviewed for the upcoming documentary titled: Panzram by John Borrowski. It tells the story of serial killer Carl Panzram who murdered a staff member here at U.S.P. Leavenworth. Panzram wrote his memoirs which were written in a book titled Killer: A Journal of Murder. A movie of the same title was released in the 1990's starring James Woods. It is extremely accurate with a few little hollywood spins.
