I have always been a history junkie. My father was a WWII vet and entered North Africa in November, 1942 and ended in Berlin in 1945. Not much he didn't see. My inspriation for writting came from a local author from Leavenworth named Johnnie Johnston. He was working on his book Leavenworth Penitentiary and ask for insight into the project. As we worked together he was amazed at the photo collection I had collected over the years and encouraged me to write a pictorial history.
