Longtime fan of Methodism's founder, John Wesley and his theology.

Background Information

In seminary, Garrett-Evangelical on campus of Northwestern in Evanston, Illinois, M.Div. 1958, was taught by William Hordern who introduced me to theology and created in me a love for theology.  Colin Williams helped create in me a love for John Wesley's theology as well as Phililp S. Watson who worked with me after graduation on the theology of John Wesley(1961-63).

My parents, John and Mattie Ewbank.  John was a college professor-minister and Mattie was a world class cheerleader for her only child, me.

After leaving the ministry and entering business was a Human Resource Manager for over 20 years, often teaching HR Management in the evenings at local colleges and universities.

After retiring was looking for something to do and decided to resurrect my Master"s Thesis on the theology of John Wesley and worked for several years on it and it became "John Wesley, Natural Man, and the 'Isms" in 2009.

"Wesley's Wars" was finished in 2012.

"To Whom It May Concern" was published in 2013.

Graduated with Honors in Psychology at Baker University. All kinds of awards in J.C.'s in Albion, Michigan. Awards in several community organizations. Many positions in the Methodist Church, Lay Leader and now Chair of Board.

Additional Information

"John Wesley, Natural Man, and the 'Isms'" a study of what John Wesley thought about natural man, Judaism, Roman Catholicism, Quakerism, Mysticism and Deism and whether or not he thought they could be saved. Wesley was a great theologian, volumnous writer and editor, preacher, and traveler. He was one of the most ecumenical theologians of his, or any, age. Natural Man, and the ‘Isms’” is still available through Wipf and Stock and many other places. I have an M.Div. from Garrett-Evangelical and extra work there on the theology of John Wesley. “Wesley’s Wars” discusses the theological wars John Wesley waged on behalf of “true religion,” a religion of the heart. They were fought to protect the people in his society who trusted him with their spiritual health, and he took that seriously. He waged war on incorrect ideas of original sin, predestination, the church, and Christian perfection. It is available through WestBow publishing a division of Thomas Nelson and many other places. The earlier book, “John Wesley, Nataural Man, and the Isms" is available. "To Whom It May Concern" published in 2013 is about our family, frinds, colleges, workplaces etc...most with a touch of humor. I live in Mobile, Alabama and am active in Saint Mark United Methodist Church. Good reading. Bob Look for author as J. Robert Ewbank
