My favorite poet is Gerard Manley Hopkins.  Other influences include Wallace Stevens, Sylvia Plath, Adrienne Rich, Emily Dickinson and others. I studied poetry with William Packard at NYU. Three volumes of my poems have been published. I also studied art at Hunter College and the Art Students League and exhibited my work nationally, most recently at a solo show in Georgia. Currently I combine both words and pictures in coloring books for grown-ups My most current project is the "LARGEST CLAY TABLET COLORING BOOK" an exhibition of words and images from my coloring books     

Alice S. Shapiro is Poet Laureate Emeritus of Douglasville, Georgia, a Pushcart-nominated poet and author of three collections of poetry. She was also nominated for Georgia Author of the Year for her first poetry book Cracked and second poetry book, Life: Descending / Ascending. A third collection, Saltian, was published by unbound Content Press.
