Since my retirement from full-time work as a marketing director, I have written four books, with a fifth one on its way. My first book entitled 'Funny How Things Work Out' is my memoirs, which is full of stuff that will make you laugh, and for those who have led a somewhat sheltered life, there are things which might shock you. I was an engineering officer in the Merchant Navy in 1967, and I reveal some of the antics we got up to whilst visiting the Far East. This is definately not for the faint hearted!! My second book entitled 'Onwards and Upwards' is a sequel to my memoirs, containing more revelations about my adventurous and fulfilling life. I also comment on the quality of life today, compared with 60 years ago, detailing some of my pet hates about certain attitudes of folks today. I also include more information about my travels, over a period of fifty years. This book will make you laugh out loud, and possibly cringe, when you discover some of the antics that I have experienced over the years. Book number three entitled 'A Long Journey Back' is a true life story about our 40 year old son Robert, who at the age of 18 years, suffered a near fatal head injury. The book describes how the injury occurred, the following life saving surgery, and the long battel for Rob to regain his life. My first two books will make you laugh, but I'm afraid that this one might make you shed a few tears. Number four book entitled 'Dane Mills Bosley', is due to be released on the 21st June 2012 and this is an industrial and social history about two mills in rural Cheshire, England, where I served my engineering apprenticeship between 1959 & 1966. The mills date back to the mid eighteenth century, when they were constructed by the famoue industrialist Charles Roe. The book contains many true stories about my fellow workers, which you will find fascinating. I have been extremely fortunate in locating many historic photographs, which will appeal to those who are interested in our industrial and social heritage.
