The author began writing in 2005 following a period of research and managed to produce the novel, 'Campbell's Reivers', inspired by the events in Scotland and the Low Countries in the late 16th Century.  The novel is a work of fiction but based on a good foundation of European history of that period.  It is an adventure story with a bit of attitude - and is certainly not recommended for younger readers. Having been an avid reader since a child, and brought up on a diet of classical Greek adventures, through Dumas, Conan-Doyle to the modern writers Nigel Tranter, Wilbur Smith, Bernard Cornwell and the like, he felt a novel inside himself for a long time yet was always too busy until retirement to have the luxury of research and writing time. Neil Grant is presently about two-thirds through the writing of the sequel to 'Campbell's Reivers' which he hopes to have ready for publication at the end of 2013.  The sequel wil be entitled 'Campbell's Dragoons'.
