Initially what began as a way to channel my depression due to my parents' blindsided divorce I wrote a poem entitled 'Nomadic Minds' and after I jotted down the last line, my Voice was born. That was in 1999 and I was 17 years old. I found that creative writing was the perfect tool to relate emotions of any and all kinds. Poetry is the honesty of one's soul. A free therapy session, so to speak. My poetic influences a.k.a. heroes are Jim Morrison, Allen Ginsberg, Edgar Allen Poe, Frank O' Hara, William Blake, Otep Shamaya, and lately John Keats has been added to the list. Other influences include Dean Koontz, Stephen Davis, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Jack Kerouac, and Kurt Vonnegut. My motives as an Author is to change the world (if that is even possible) and to share my story with those who can relate. I feel that I have a gift and I would like to share that gift with the world. My debut poetry book entitled 'Map of a Distorted Mind' is composed of poems that were written from my earliest work at the age of 17 straight up until the age of 25. The book tells somewhat of a story (being chronologically ordered) about my journey from Syracuse, New York to Boise, Idaho and finally to Portland, Oregon. I have been working on my sophmore collection of poems that were all written in Oregon. I am also working on an epic poem about the rebirth of an artist, as of now the poem is 90 pages in length. I have plans to venture off into the realm of novels, maybe even a biography of historical value. I would like to one day be considered a Universal Author.
