Jeff is a psychotherapist, speaker, writer, and social justice advocate in Austin, Texas. He and his partner, Gary Stein, met in 1997 and are the proud parents of three adopted children. Gary and two of the children are deaf, so American Sign Language is the primary mode of communication in their home. Jeff is a member of the International Association for Relationship Research, the American Counseling Association, the Association for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgender Issues in Counseling, the Council on Contemporary Families, and the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators. From 2006 through 2009, he served as the Executive Director of Soulforce - the national social justice organization committed to ending the religion-based oppression of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. During his tenure Soulforce created many nonviolent programs in an ongoing effort to increase understanding about sexual orientation and gender identity among people of faith.
