I was born and brought up in a culturally rich Meru community in Kenya. This motivated me to research on culture, resulting to the publication of my book 'FASIHI SIMULIZI NA UTAMADUNI' (Oral literature and culture), which was published by Jomo Kenyatta Foundation in 2008. This is a text currently being used in secondary schools and universities in Kenya, Tanzania and the US. I have also written two other books, namely MIALE YA MASHARIKI (RAYS FROM THE EAST) on Kiswahili poetry and ENCOUNTER WITH MPENJA, a collection of children's stories which i am sourcing for a publisher. My main motivation to write these works is my love for literature and African culture, especially when expressed in an African language. I also greatly value research.

I have presented two academic papers this year in international conferences. On April 29th i presented a paper titled 'MAZINGIRA, UTAMADUNI NA KATIBA' (ENVIRONMENT, CULTURE AND THE CONSTITUTION)at Catholic University of East Africa. On 4th May i presented 'THE ROLE OF KISWAHILI IN CONSERVATION OF CULTURE AND THE ENVIRONMENT AS ENSHRINED IN THE KENYAN CONSTITUTION' at Bayreuth University's Swahili Colloquium.
