Janet Brice Parker is a talented and skilled watercolor painter with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. She began her studies in 1956 at the age of twelve and continued private instruction until 1963 when she entered the University. Janet studied with internationally known watercolorist, Richard Brough. She was also instructed by Alvin Sella and many other outstanding painters who taught her the importance of good composition and design. Janet translates her painting ability into words and sees her writing as a continuation of that gift.Janet’s career in art has followed an interesting path. She was the artist for a CBS affiliate television station in Huntsville, Alabama, a freelance designer for a number of advertising agencies, worked as a set designer for the Lyric Opera, Kansas City, Kansas, was a courtroom artist for television stations in Alabama and Tennessee, a freelance illustrator for the Baptist Sunday School Board, Nashville, Tennessee and worked as the graphic designer for a screen print company in Nashville. Her paintings and portraits are part of private collections throughout the United States. Before doing strictly commissioned work in her home studio, Janet was represented by the following galleries: Miller, Oneonta, Alabama; Grisham Cornell, Decatur, Alabama; Emerald, Fort Walton Beach, Florida; Acquisitions, Foley, Alabama; Magnolia House, Grayton Beach, Florida; McLaughlin, Georgetown, South Carolina; Mon Image, Grayton Beach, Florida; and The Main Street Bistro, Hartselle, Alabama.    

Awards received by Janet Parker include Huntsville Art League juried show award; a Gold Addy for graphic design from the Huntsville Advertising Federation; an award presented by Dynamic Graphics, Inc., Peoria, Illinois for Outstanding Graphic Design in Television; a drawing chosen for the Permanent Collection, University of Alabama in Huntsville; a purchase award at the annual juried show in Grayton Beach, Florida.
