I have been a bibliophile since my mother laboriously taught me to read as a child - thank you mom. I generally read anything I come across. I really like to leave an element of chance in my book choice. Despite this I make a point to slip a few classics in among the random pulp and academic tomes. (I've spent a lot of my life in university and since I'm not finsihed yet there with be more tomes to come.) It was probably unavoidable that I would become an author. I love story telling, and tell them to myeslf constantly (especially in the shower). But I have yet to find a better procrastination technique than writing a book when something else must be done. By this logic alone I am guarentees a long a fruitful career.  The Weeping Empress is my first novel, and I am truly excited to share it with the world. It is heavily influenced by my love of Japanese tales, strong female characters, and strong silent men.
