My love affair with children's picture books began over sixty years ago as I helped my mother turn the pages of "The Little House" by Virginia Lee Burton.  I always had a pencil and notebook handy so I could scribble down little poems and stories.  As a kindergarten teacher, I developed a program that used the messages in picture books to help children deal with the many challenges they face in those formative years.  While raising my own three children, I continued to write stories and utilized reading, crafting and cooking activities with my kids to help build their self-esteem and develop better literacy skills.  In 2010, the book I wished I had had when my kids were growing up was published.  Show Me How! Build Your Child's Self-Esteem Through Reading, Crafting and Cooking (MoneyPenny Press, Ltd. 2010).  This award-winning resource for parents and teachers has even been endorsed by national organizations like the JDRF. I continue to write picture book stories and plan a sequel to the Show Me How book.  In addition, the Show-Me-How-Story-time Program has become very popular in local kindergartens and I also do literacy and self-esteem presentations for parent and teacher groups.   My mission is to help every young child become a reader and lover of books because books are a passport to the world.
