Most people wouldn't put these authors together, but the ones whom I have read and whom I felt influenced me were Franz Kafka, Tom Stoppard and John Iriving. They didn't necessarily influence my writing, but they influenced me. My favorite author is Philip Roth, particularly his genre-bending Operation Shylock.
