Chuck Dean was one of the first three hundred paratroopers to be deployed to the Vietnam War in 1965. Since coming home he has worked with thousands of soldiers and veterans in the U.S. and across the globe—including Russia, Italy, and France helping them find positive solutions to the many difficult issues of returning home after combat duty. As a result of his military experiences his voice has been heard loud and clear for decades on the transitional challenges experienced by veterans. In the spring of 2004, Chuck was invited by the U.S. Army to assist the paratroopers of the 173d Airborne Brigade in their re-adjustment after combat in Iraq. His focus while at their re-deployment base camp in Vicenza, Italy was to help the troops reintegrate with their loved ones, and readjust to peacetime conditions after prolonged combat exposure in Northern Iraq. The 173d is the same unit Chuck served with as a young paratrooper in Vietnam. In 2008 he was the recipient of the Hirsch Foundation Leadership Award for his writing and work to help veterans with readjustment issues. He lives in Las Vegas, Nevada, and is the author of several books on recovery issues, including best-selling “Nam Vet: Making Peace with Your Past” and “Down Range to Iraq and Back”. His latest fiction novel "Inside Shadows" is a trilogy about espionage intrigue.

Chuck spent several years as the National Executive Director for Point International. A support organization to help veterans and their families with readjustment issues. He is the National Chaplain Emeritus for the 173d Airborne Brigade Association and has a B.A. degree in Theology.
In 2008 Chuck was awarded the Hirsch Foundation Leadership Award and received several commendations from the State of California and the City of Los Angeles for his continued writing, speaking, and work to help active duty military and veterans with transitional challenges.
