“A writer, I think, is someone who pays attention to the world.” ~ Susan Sontag Heather Joan Marinos is a non-fiction writer whose focus is on current socio-economic, cultural and political issues and challenges facing everyday men and women. Of European descent, Heather was born and raised in Canada, and has lived in the United States for over two decades. Well-traveled and multilingual, her perspective is both domestic (North America) and international. Her extensive writing and editing experience span a spectrum of markets ― from high-tech, non-profit, history and politics to medical, travel and culture, food and wine, and the performing arts. Added to the mix are 25+ years of well-honed strategic marketing and planning experience (international and domestic). Her event management skills led to a long career in seminar and product launch marketing – for clients in the United States, Canada, France, Germany, England, Ireland, Austria, Switzerland and The Netherlands. A keen interest in history and philosophy prompted her to do a B.A. in Political Science (specifically, political philosophy) and an M.A. in History (history of European intellectual thought) at McGill University and Concordia University, respectively. She is the author of Casualties of the (Recession) Depression (published in March 2013) and will be launching a Second Edition on June 13th, 2018.  This Second Edition includes 18 new vignettes, 5 additional chapters, updated/most recent statistics, more political commentary, and sports a new book cover. Heather’s next book, Anatomy of Hunger (about Hunger in America) – will be released in Q1 2019 (exact date T.B.D.). Additionally, she has multiple book projects in different stages of development: Demokratia in Action (about the new faces of the global recession, with a focus on Europe ― more specifically, Greece), and a series of four non-fiction books targeted to the “Baby Boomer” generation – the first of which is called When the Child Becomes the Parent. As a seasoned consultant, Heather provides ghostwriting, book coaching/management, and B2B content writing and editing services to clients in a cross-section of industry sectors:  socio-economics, politics, sustainability, environment, travel, food & wine, engineering, architecture, building and construction, technology, aerospace, legal and medical. Heather lives with her husband in the eclectic South Florida village of Coconut Grove (hence her moniker, heatherfromthegrove).
