I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and went off to school at Boston College, a fine Jesuit school that is close to my heart.  There I discovered the thrill of academia, along with playing rugby and drinking beer.  After graduation I became a bohemian, and worked in service jobs while reading and writing, the latter two being my true vocation.  I love history, and have read countless biographies and books about the drama of human experience, of which there are far more than any man could ever read.  I also love literature, on occasion, and prefer authors whose writing shows this great drama, such as Balzac, Henry Miller or Tom Wolfe.  The challenge of our age, it seems to me, is to convert high brow and low brow, as is being doing currently mostly by network shows, such as Breaking Bad or Deadwood.  As always, in my opinion, it is a fascinating time to be alive and witness the drama of the human struggle.
