I've always liked humour. As Tom Leher was a mathematician, I thought 'why not me?' I started writing and performing funny songs on BBC radio, then developed a one-man show, ending up (briefly) on national TV. After a big divorce, I came off the road and became a freelance copywriter. I now live in Lanzarote, and in the three years I've been here have written three funny novels. My favourite funny novelists are Tom Sharpe and Colin Bateman. I also like PG Wodehouse. I thought my main motivation to write was money. But I was wrong (partly). Obvioulsy, I'd like to become successful, but I find I really enjoy writing. Since finishing the last novel, last month, I have about ten reviews on amazon - and they're all good. And that has given me a lot of pleasure. So I might be becoming a reformed character. The three novels - The Implosion Trilogy cover the exploits of two corporate video producers who drink too much, don't earn enough and get too many death threats. I started off with the idea of writing a very short story about two useless, drunken corporate video producers - Mick and Jim - sleeping off hangovers, in hammocks strung up in their lino-floored Soho office. I had no idea their mis-adventures would lead to three novels, including exotic locations like Southsea, Las Vegas, the Caribbean, the Amazon and Lanzarote - all of which they manage to tarnish significantly with their presence. While trying to work out how to promote the books on the web, I'm working on my fourth novel in the Trilogy - Vampire Midwives.
