Coruscated Confabulations: Oh! The Humanity! by Kalikiano Kalei

'Coruscated Confabulations' is a collection of stories and experiences, most of which took place in prior decades. They are taken from or based upon real events, with a certain admixture of fictional embellishments.

Everything cometh to he who waiteth so long as he who waiteth worketh like hell while he waiteth.

Background Information

I write stories about people I knew in a country I was born in; a country my father was born in.  My grandfather left Poland in 1885 and came to South Africa, establishing a life in the small town of Potchefstroom. He was a tailor to President Paul Kruger, supporting the Boers in the war against Enland in the Anglo Boer war. It was only years later, after my father passed away that I learned the true story about my grandfather. I have told that story in my book, BRAKENSTROOM under the chapter DASSER.  After I married, and started practicing as a Pharmacist in Potchefstroom, I became very active in challenging the apartheid system of South Africa. It was after I was threatened by the South African Security Police, that I encouraged my children to emigrate. They chose Canada, and it was only after they had settled and established themselves that my wife and I followed them. Today we live in Vancouver, Canada.  It is not easy to say which genre my stories belong to, I can only say that I am a fan of Somerset Maughn and try to write as he did. The only problem I have is that I find it difficult to describe a tree in two paragraphs. I tell the story as it happened, and tend to cut out descriptions. My vocabulary is also not excessive, and I use basic words not words where the a reader will have to use a dictionary to find out what the word means. The 'Scintillate scintillate tiny asteroid' is to me simply 'Twinkle twinkle little star.' At my age, writing takkes care of boredom. So I write and write and write. All my stories are events that truly happened, and people I knew and met. There are many more stories I can tell, and I will as lonmg as my computer works.
