I write to tell the story of my family history, I add fictionalized accounts of the events around the facts I have. I think there is nothing more interesting than what has happened. I started writing in college [UC Berkeley]when challenged by my English 1B professor; his challenge was to express my thoughts, my knowledge, my opinions so others would understand. Continuing into a career in consulting in Public Accounting, I wrote to sell [proposals] and to communicate the results of consulting projects [Reports]. I had several mentors that taught me to express my ideas clearly and professionally. Many times I wrote into the night, rewording, revising, reorganizing to please these mentors and the potential and current clients. It was hard work. Yellow line legal pads, pencils, erasers, cut and paste were my tools. This was BC [before computers.] This was before word processors. Most can not even imagine how hard and the long hours one had to work to generate meaningful writing. Then came computer, word processing WORD and spell checkers. This made the writing I did far easier and far more enjoyable. Now all I needed was time and partial retirement [never to fully retire]made that possible. Now I work part time in a fun place, teach accounting at the local community college, prepare tax returns [A CPA for over 40 years], hike with my wife and enjoy my grandchildren. And Write!
