Our goal is to change lives. Our goal is to provide athletes (and coaches) with a world-class competition process to handle the pressure and deliver clutch performances.

Background Information

Steve Knight is a state and national Powerlifting champion, and in 1982 at the US National Powerlifting Championships, while lifing in the 181 lb. weight class, set an Oregon state record in the squat of 722 lbs, that sill stands today. Mr. Knight's experience with executing big lifts on the big stage, along with working with thousands of athletes over a forty-year career, is what drives the WinningSTATE mission: "To bring mental toughness and composure to every athlete in the world." Mr. Knight predicts that the mental side of competing is the next big deal in sports and questions whether applied sports psychology is accessible by the vast majority of inspired athletes. Mr. Knight foresees a time in the near future when mental-toughness training (and coaching) rise to become essential components to successful athletic departments everywhere, from amateur club, to public and private schools, to professionals and national teams. Mr. Knight achieved a BA in communication (with honors) from Portland State University with the express purpose of acquiring advanced communicaiton techniqures to simplify complex topics. The results is WinningSTATE: The Athlete's Guide to Competing Mentally Tough. A fifteen-sport book series that includes: paper, audio, and e-books, and mobile/online academies. Mr. Knight argues that being able to respond mentally tough to pressure is what puts one's confidence through the roof, and how athletes keep their wits, fiercely compete from start to finish, and deliver clutch performances. Mr. Knight works one-on-one with individuals and teams at every level. To get in touch, email: steve (at) winningstate (dot) com COMPETE MENTALLY TOUGH!
