"Aspie" is the nickname of people who have Asperger's Syndrome---people who are on the autism spectrum. So I was introverted all through my childhood and teens, as well as struggled with depression. Reading and writing were always been my havens. And among the subjects that I've always been fascinated with are time travel and reincarnation. I determined to write a novel about them both, though I've never had the really technical mind that helps to write an engaging science fiction novel (though that's always been one of my favorite movie genres). But "Echo" isn't just a science fiction novel by any means. It could be called a fantasy novel, an adventure novel, a love story, even a historical novel. Overall, I'd call it a slipstream historical fiction love story. I've also always enjoyed romance in movies and books (though I've always HATED romantic comedies). And I've greatly admired Gerard Butler for the past nine years, which is why I patterned the male protagonist in my story (all four of his incarnations) after Gerard Butler. He truly did influence and inspire me a lot while I wrote this book, which is why I dedicated it to him.
