My early influence was growing up in a small farming town environment, not having been spoiled by the complications of life to come. Most of my early life was spent fishing on the river banks, playing a lot of baseball, and messing in my own science lab I installed in a back room of our house.There I spent many months experimenting with trying to perform the first frog heart transplant with some limited success I thought or perhaps imagined.

Those early years is where I bonded with the truest friends I would ever have. I grew up waking up at breakfast  to the likes of Faron Young and Johnny Cash blaring on the old Philco radio by the kitchen sink. To this day, I still can't get the old country music songs Skip A Rope or Hey Porter out of my head that I heard almost every morning on that radio. Johnny Cash was a neighbor growing up only a few miles down the road in the same cotton fields that I grew up in.

Moved to the "big city"  and got my college degree which I was able to pay for by selling Bibles and children's books door to door during the summer break. Got married, raised a family, started an oil field rock analysis  laboratory, a soft-serve yogurt business and wrote some songs and poetry along the way. I didn't really consider it poetry at the time, as I was just writing thoughts down on paper.

After retiring, I made it a goal to follow my true passion of writing and music. I finished a semi-fictional account of my life as a boy named Bean in a coming of age book I called Little River. Events in the book were mostly inspired by true events however. Little River was the name of the river that encircled our little town that provided the backdrop for making lifelong friends I have to this day, though many have passed on.

I have since also published my first children's book of story verse rhyme called This And That What's In A Hat.

I started writing and performing songs as a duo with my wife Misfire. Together we are known as Dancinfire. Our first album of eleven songs you will love, is out on all platforms and will be available on Vinyl in July, 2026. Our music video is called Catch A Ride that you will enjoy. Because of social media and the success of my son Jcbackfire on Youtube and Twitch, I became known as Dadfire and I adopted that name as an author, entertainer and performer.

I've been a "rock breaker", "cake maker", "music maker".

I've done my part and my duty and now I'm just me like my poem says, "The Me I Am."

Remember, we can't choose to be born who we are but we can choose who we become.
