I've been writing since I was ten years old, when I would make up stories to give to my friends.  I remember writing dialogue between famous people on half sheets of paper under my books in high school when I was supposed to be taking notes.  One of my favorite childhood books was Harriet the Spy, a story about a young writer who writes down everything she observes in notebooks, some of it getting her into trouble when her notebook is discovered by a jealous classmate.  I went on to become my high school newspaper's editor, then majored in journalism in college until I felt called to become a teacher.   I married and became a high school science and English teacher, but never lost my desire to become a writer.  After raising my two children, and while nearing retirement, I wrote and published my first book, I'm Dreaming of a Black Christmas: A Holiday Survival Guide, fulfilling my dream of becoming an author.  Shortly after that, I wrote and published a romantic suspense novel called Night Keeper, about a group of zookeepers who work at night.  It was inspired by my late husband Jimmy, who was  a night keeper at our local zoo. While teaching I wrote several articles for a professional educational newsletter, and also wrote a monthly newsletter for the teachers on my campus.  I now write a blog and am working on my next novel.
