To say my background is varied is a severe understatement. Writing, however, has always been a hobby, a pastime for me to reflect on an emotion or some passing thought. I am hoping to find here some feedback and criticism that will help me to improve and perhaps take this to another level. I am influenced by many of the things writers have always been influenced by, the opposite sex, of course, the beauty of nature and all the metaphors that exist there, the folly of the human mind and like that. It would seem not so much the subject, but the ability to turn an original phrase or grasp a perspective long missed by others. At this point in my life I find myself, as so many others, afflicted with cancer. What could be done has been done to no avail so now I wait. While I'm waiting I intend to pursue the creative outlets I have long put off, writing being one of several. I do and always have enjoyed working with my hands. Woodworking. drawing and painting are my outlets to keep those hands busy. Writing on the other hand (no pun intended) is what keeps my mind busy and sharp. To capture a moment and express it concisely with wit and heart is my goal. My hope is for true aim.
