I LOVE science-fiction. I also enjoy detective novels, so my first full-lenghth novel combines elements of both.  As a child,  I fell in love with shows like 'Captain Scarlet', 'Star Trek' and 'Dr. Who' and in my early twenties I founded the only appreciation society for 'The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy' in 1980 (it's still going strong) with the late Douglas Adam's blessing. Prior to that, I created a local fan group for 'Star Trek', went to conventions and devoured fanzines. I  still remember the feeling that I'd found my favourite genre as I read Asimov's 'I, Robot' for the very first time (I don't remember how old I was). It took a few decades for me to work up to writing a novel - but thanks to Faber Academy's 'Write a novel online' course I eventually found the confidence to share my work with the wider world (as opposed to a few friends and, rather more annonymously, via online fan-fiction) and self-published my first collection of short stories in 2014. 'The Methuselah Paradox' - my first novel- followed a year later, and I am now working on adapting a short story into a graphic novel/comic book titled 'Minding Mama'.  I've also written a romance novella (under a pen name, to avoid genre confusion!) and have ideas for many more short stories and novels. I need a time machine, so if you know anyone who has one... I'm excited by science fiction stories/films/TV shows that make me think about, perhaps even reconsider, the world around me.. 'The Methuselah Paradox'  covered the possible consequences of gene therapy and time travel, and didn't contain any aliens or spaceships. That isn't to say that I won't inlcude these elements in future projects; I just wanted to tell a story which was more 'home-grown', if you like.     

In addition to creating ZZ9 (the HHGTTG fan club) I ran a HHGTTG-themed one-day mini convention ('Millicon'), co-wrote (and provided some of the artwork) and edited a quarterly newsletter for ZZ9, and also co-wrote, edited and produced an occasional fanzine/newsletter for a local Star Trek fan group (which I also founded, in 1977).

I achieved RSA I & II in touch-typing, and a 'B' in English Language 'O' level, both at evening classes.

I took a three month course in fiction writing and a six month course 'Writing a Novel online' with Faber Academy in 2013/2014, and studied editing and screenwriting with The Writers Workshop in 2014.

More recently, I have successfully written, crowdfunded and produced a book trailer for 'The Methuselah Paradox', and have set up a number of websites (which I really enjoy doing, so if you need a new website...!) using Weebly, Wordpress, Wix and Simplesite.
