Hugh Harris is a retired pastor, artist, and writer in the Richmond, Virginia suburb of North Chesterfield.  His life experiences have been varied, all of which feeds his life-long interest in art and writing. He grew up in a major city then moved to a rural area; served in the US Army, both National Guard and active Army; traveled in Europe and the Middle East; acted in little theater productions; sang in church choirs; achieved degrees in sociology and theology; owned his own corporation producing and selling his art works.  Hugh's fiction works include his Dinkel Island Series--stories about people, life, challenges and adventures in a Virginia community on the Chesapeake Bay.  His books grow around a scripture passage and generate a message of redemption and hope. He has published three nonfiction books:  "NPH Journey into Dementia and Out Again," which he co-wrote with his wife, Sharon French Harris--the story of their experience with her condition of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus, and her recovery; "Whlen Love Prevails," an inspirational biography of Mary Ellen Townsend Harris; and "Tag-along Talk: Wordquilts Blogs," which is a collection of essays from some of his blogs. Hugh's latest novel, "PIPELINE," published in September 2018, breaks away from the setting and characters in his previous Dinkel Island Series.  PIPELINE centers around the impacts of a natural gas pipeline being routed through an isolated Virginia mountain community.  Hugh weaves a story of suspense, romance and faith through key characters Billy Upshur, Cindy Barker, Sheriff Cam Bordain, Waya Trakker, Mama Jean Trakker, Zeke Stoner and others.  As with his other books, PIPELINE is available through Amazon Books in both eBook and paperback format.
