I started writing at 14 and Dropped out of school at 15. My Best Friends Mother was a Poet. I realized Poetry was a form of expression, I wanted to pursue.  My basic motivation for writing was pain, humility and being alone. My major influences were Langston Hughes, Bob Marley, Sonya Sanchez, Shange, Baraka, and Loraine Hansberry just to name a few. One of the Best Compliment's I received was from The Village Voice "Carolyn Baxter is a cross between Langston Hughes and Walt Whitman”. Joe Papp, producer who Created the Shakespeare Festival stated,  \\\''Carolyn Baxter is a Renaissance Woman\\\'' I enjoy creating Hip Hop music and graphics. I earned a Masters Degree candidate as a New Media Artist. I have one more year to completion. I am hoping to one day visit Austria to finish it. I enjoy seeing people, travel and my work. I write mostly for teens and adult readers'/ ages of 15 and 30. The Hip Hop world has a lot of meaningless violence. Young men in the street game seem to think prison is a rite of passage I hope my books can change a few minds. When I read at schools and Colleges, I’m always amazed at how much the students and gang members look up to me. For all the wrong reasons for Being a ''OG'' a commercialize sterotypes of being Hip Hop tough, And From hHarlem NY in the street game. That’s why I  named my New book Platinum dreams lead to reality. I let the reader know, your more apt to find a bullet and get ''Lead Poison' before Fortune and Fame finds you in the street game. All the Material Gains... Fade away Fast,, The Price to Everything in the street Game ,The Hustle is Your  LIFE 'You rise together but you fall alone''.I have seen wit with my Cousins,Nephews and aunts. From Alchol, and drug abuse and Violence to Ignorence of H.I.V.
