The author, JL Huffman, a former LPN, and now retired Trauma Surgeon/ICU doctor. She is a prior editor of Northeast Florida Medicine Journal and is published in the surgical literature (publish or perish). The Author is a Pennsylvania native, who currrently lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. She is a prolific writer of haiku, and is at work on a post-apocalyptic novel.  

Her first poetry book, Almanac: The Four Seasons, was published in 2020. Her second poetry book, Family Treasons, debuted in 2021. Her most recent work a collection of short poems and photograph, Voyage: Vista and Verse, came out in 2022. All three have been awarded the High Country Writers Book of the Year Award.
