Hi, I'm John Newton, I was born in 1952 and I will be 73 this year. My background is varied, my interests too. I learned to play the guitar at a young age, and spent the 1970s and some of the 1980, playing and singing in folk clubs, of which there were many back then. I spent the first thirty years of my working life the the printing industry, first as a compositor, then as a typesetter, and finally as a computer operator. At the turn of the century, I sold my house, gave up my job, and bought a narrowboat and went to live on the canals for a few years. In the end, for various reasons, mostly financial (boats are a money pit) this didnt work out, and I came back to my home town of Cambridge, and got a job in the care sector, looking after adults with learning difficulties. I wish I had found this job much earlier in my life. It was hard, but unquestionably the most rewarding time of my working life. Now many years retired, i spend my time looking after my extremely old cat, writing, and occasionally, painting, which I love, but I'm not too good at. My interest in sci-fi goes back to the early days of Dr Who, Star Trek, Lost in space and the like, and I've always been fascinated by the unimaginable size of the universe, and what could be out there. Sci-fi has no boundaries, whatever you are able to think might be possible, is possible, in a sci-fi adventure. Multiple universes, diferent dimensions, aliens, interdimensional travel, all of these things are possibilities. They may or may not exist, but the possibilities for writing about them are endless.
