RICHARD was born in Chicago Illinois, on the southern shores of Lake Michigan. He is the progeny of Swedish and Norwegian immigrants. At age six, Richard began his journey into the arts. For twelve years he played classical trumpet. But when the wonderful incursion of British music invaded America, he put aside the trumpet (as his main instrument) and began to seriously embrace and learn acoustic and electric guitar. During this time, he began studying musical composition, songwriting, writing lyrics, and poetic construct. Richard performed in 17 professional bands. He played clubs, halls, cabarets, and concerts in Europe, Canada, across the USA, Alaska, and even Whitehorse in the Yukon Territories. Richard's band 'SECRETS' was one of the top four Pop-Jazz bands in San Diego for 5 years. In 1995 Richard designed and personally built a Midi-centered Recording Studio ~ TAYLOR & GRACE ~ where he worked fruitfully until 2002. During that time, he composed and multi-track recorded over three hundred compositions. Only two CDs were compiled: WHAT LOVE HAS DONE and THE PATH. Richard retired from music in 2003....

RICHARD'S WRITING is inspired mostly by human-nature, personal relationships, (past and present portrayals) spirituality, Christian faith, Biblical eschatology, nature, art, and history. He enjoys characterization, alliteration, parlance, metaphor, and he also relishes the discipline and challenge of poetic stylization: Rhythmical, Poetic/Prose, Triolets, Syllable formats, Story-Poems, Freeform, Haiku, Tanka, Haibun, and Acrostic.

RICHARD'S TRAVELS have taken him across the USA, the Canadian provinces of British Columbia, Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and up into the Yukon Territories. Richard lived in the Alaskan cities of Ketchikan, Petersburg, Juneau, and out on Kodiak Island. He traveled to Skagway, Sitka, and Glacier Bay in Alaska, and also to the Azorean Archipelagoes, Germany, Switzerland, and Holland... Richard and his wife, Michele, have hiked and explored the Laguna Mountains, the Cuyamaca Mountains, the High Deserts in Southern California, the Eastern/Western Sierra's, the Dixie National Forest, the Northern California and Southern Oregon coastlines, and the "Four Corners" region of the United States.

Richard's poetry, poetiprose, and short-stories have been published now in 47 Anthology's, Compendiums, E-zines, and Magazines. Richard has been nominated twice for the Pushcart Prize.
