Rudolf Ogoo Okonkwo is an MFA student at Western Connecticut State University. He has a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the Federal University of Technology in Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria. He worked as a reporter for many years in Nigeria, Europe, and North America. He is a columnist for New York based African Abroad newspaper and Houston based Class magazine. His columns appear in many journals including ThisDay, Champion, USAfricavoice, Africa Vibe, Vanguard, and Independent. For five years, he was a columnist for Nigeriaworld.com. His syndicated columns can be read at kwenu.com and Nigeriavillagesquare.com. His short story, Phantom of the Python, and A kernel for a Fowl are parts of Author-me.com African Author 2006 and 2008 volumes respectively. His poems are part of the upcoming new Nigerian Poetry anthology, On Broken Wings. His short story, Dr. Emenike, is part of the upcoming anthology, Biafran Babies, edited by Obiwu. His compilation of short stories, My Husband’s Wife & Other Stories is slated for publication in the spring of 2008. He is currently working on a movie, THE LAST AFRICAN VIRGIN. His first book, CHILDREN OF A RETIRED GOD was published July 1, 2006. He is also the founder of Iroko Productions LLC and the Olaudah Equiano Prize for Fiction. Okonkwo is married to Edna and they have two children: daughter, Ijeamaka and son, Ogonna. He lives in Rosedale, New York City.
