Type or paste your background here  Years of newspaper work prepared me for actual writing, even  though  I used to make up fiction stories about my favorite characters in my head.  I didn't actually get to fiction writing until I was in high school, and then they were only short-shorts which I scribbled down and hid somewhere. Reading is a huge help to the would-be writer. If you love to read, sample a bit of everything--it helps you with your grammar, too! Finally after procrastinating for almost 20 years I got down to fiction writing for real. I have two books out about my favorite people: Rengade the Hunter and Renegade the Warrior, nad have sold short stories to "Aiofe's Kiss" (The Treestand), "Kidvisions" (Between the Rows) and won a third place in a apiring authors' contest online for The Old Hunter, and honorable mention for The Light Dancer. Two anthologies, Fiction Cache and Fiction Tape, carry examples of my short fiction, available on Lulu.com  while this year's Dan River Anthology has a couple of my poems.
