My interest in writing followed my deep interest in reading. I have been an avid reader from a very young age. I' ve read all of the great writers through the years, authors like Ernest Hemingway, Ralph Ellison, Chester Himes, Donald Goins, Kyle Onsott, and Gore Vidal, and was inspired by their creations. I write to instill that same inspiration in my readers. My book, THROUGH THE STORM: A TRUE STORY OF SURVIVAL, was written in the midst of one of America's worse natural disasters, hurricane Katrina, where my family and I survived for two weeks after the storm and the flood. Every techbique I use as a writer was employed to bring this amazing story to life on paper so that the reader could actually live, see, and feel the experience the way i experienced it. 

Before writing novels, I was an award winning poet, receiving awards from the Melvin A. Butler Festival, International Libarary of Poetry, World of Poetry, and Famous Poets.
