Tahanee S. Roberts was born in Queens, New York. Her interest in reading and writing was always present. She began reading at the age of 4 years old, after being taught by her Father whom she also inherited the ability to write. Her Parents paid close attention to her desire for books rather than toys, so it came as no surprise that English was her favorite subject in school. In the summer of 1996, she dealt with the sudden loss of her Older Cousin, whom was also her Best Friend. As an outlet to release her pain and frustration Tahanee began writing poetry. Her first poem was a poem dedicated to her late cousin. & After reading the heartfelt dedication to family members and obtaining positive feedback, it motivated her to continue writing poetry and eventually short stories. Submitting several queries to magazine articles and receiving even more positive feedback for her work was only the beginning. & Shortly after the poem was written, it was discovered by a major publisher and she was offered a contract to be featured in a National Book of Poetry.
Her first Novel Lust Now, Cry Later was released in the summer of 2008 under a self publishing company. & She has done numerous successful book signings throughout the East Coast. Creating her own awareness via post cards, press kits, and through social media her journey took off. The response she received from the cover of her book was astounding. People were interested in knowing what it was that such a young beautiful lady had to say.
A year and a half later, Feeling that her novel was not receiving the proper recognition it deserved, Tahanee pulled Lust Now, Cry Later off of the market. She plans to re-release Lust Now, Cry Later as a second Edition under her rising publishing company in the summer of 2011.Escape Books Publishing LLC which is co-owned by her sister and co-host Samiyyah S. Roberts. It was created in the fall of 2009 and Lust Now, Cry Later will be the first published novel released under the publishing company. In addition to several book signings, Tahanee is a Public Speaker. She has participated at Aids Awareness Events, Fundraisers, and she also writes online articles. Tahanee is the creator and one of the hosts of Pillow-Talk alongside Samiyyah S. Roberts an On-Air Personality and Creative Visionary along with Ms. Royal an ASCAP Songwriter and Creator and Designer of Epiphany Amor.
Pillow Talk, a 90 minute online radio show on Blog Talk radio that launched in August 2009. Pillow Talk focuses on Love, Relationships, and everything in between. The age group in which it targets ranges from the ages of 18-53 years old, both male and female. Although her passion for writing came from an unfortunate life changing circumstance, she has taken her passion and hunger for writing and has used it to deliver powerful messages to individuals across the world.
