To me, there is not much to tell about my life. To others, I have done quite a bit. I served in the military. Fire Fighter. Police Officer. Fire Fighter Instructor. I would assume that would be enough to mention here. In these fields I have done flood rescues, Search and Retrieval of MIA's, countless child births, CPR, hung off the sides of buildings, been pummelled by burning ceilings, attacked by dogs, and many, many other things that may not fit well here, but all in the line of public safety.
Yet, before all of these things, since childhood, I have always harbored a desire to write books, to move people with words. As a kid, I had an insatiable desire to read all kinds of material, to figure out how these writers and authors did what they did. I count myself blessed, because though I had the desire to write, it became apparent to me that experience gives substance to writing, and intimate knowledge gives life to the substance.
I am thankful, then, for the broken bones, choking on the smoke, and all of the beautiful people that have come into my life and left profound footprints. Throughought the experiences, playing football against some of the greates legends to have dunned a uniform, burying a beloved wife, brothers, a father, and more, I see things with more clarity than I did as a kid that wanted to tell a story that he didn't have. Now, it seems to me that all stories that come to me can find a place to start and somewhere to finish, because I now know love, joy, loss, pain, security, danger and peace through prayer and meditation on the Bible. This, amongst all these things, has given me a vision of not one who has loved a lot and lost just as much, but one who has sewn good seed and can now reap. Let the books flow!
