From literary works in school and college to newspapers (including The Evening Star in Washington, DC) and magazines, writing has always been part of my life. To share my enthusiasm for the written word, I have taught at Writing Centers and Universities on both sides of the country. Later, as a single parent of three children, I also raised, raced, and showed thoroughbred horses. Reflected in my written work are years spent living in Europe as well as my relationship with some special dogs and horses who, in their own way, taught me so much. Then there were the three years I lived on a sailboat, traveling throughout the Caribbean without an engine, relying solely on the wind against the sails. Over the years, I have also enjoyed painting and drawing dogs and horses and people portraits as well as landscapes and surealistic works. Two of my books have my paintings on their covers. Creativity is my mantra for insight, inspiration, and appreciation for all that is hidden in my mind as well as what I can observe in the world around me. I also love researching the past to better understand the present. And being surprised as my words take over and reveal what my rational/organized mind would never admit. For the tool is the heart; the medium is words. As Georgi Lozanov said: "They say that the human mind, once stretched to a new idea, never returns to its original shape. " I hope my books will help reshape a few minds.

My historical fiction, 'Forbidden Loves, Paris Between the Wars' (2nd edition 2008) is being considered for a movie. The new edition, published by RockIt Press is titled A CRUEL CALM, Paris Between the Wars won first prize for historical fiction by Royal Dragon Book Awards. My presentations both in person and on the radio have been well received. 'Myth, Magic and Metaphor' has a quote in its preface thanks to President Joe Biden. The History Press published 'Historic Tales of La Jolla' January, 2017. My 2 thoroughbred horses "wrote" a book about their past before they came to live with "the Lady" (me): 'Horse Tales, Teddy and Just'n Come to an Understanding.' Popular with all ages.
