Why Write? I write to liberate myself from the pain of life I write because I can't sleep late at night I write because I no longer know how to fight with my fists Now my pen is the instrument that brings my weary soul bliss I write because if the words were just said, they would be forgotten by tomorrow And no one would believe that there is a rainbow after the rain I write because it is my God given right to free myself while liberating others with my words that are written on life's pages I write because my mind is no longer a slave to the constraints of this world I write because inside of me there is still a little girl who is crying out and wants to be heard, sometimes she sings like a song bird I write to escape the reality of my existence, creating a world where I am a queen and not a maid or a wife who is struggling to keep her life clean I write for you and I write for me I write because it sets a dying soul free I write because my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer I write to liberate myself from a hurtful past while designing a fruitful future I write because there is power in the pen And I get to say where it begins and end.
