If you have ever visited a model railroad, or perhaps built one yourself, you can easily see how the modeler is trying to tell a story. The reason I use this comparison to writing is because as a kid I built a model railroad. I would place figures and cars along the tracks, imagining a scene. I remember back in the 80's, looking through a catalog, they had a picture of a scene. A freight train going over a trestle, with an action figure of a fly fishermen below it in a stream. So you start to think about this guy fishing, did he just come home from work? Does the train overhead bother him? Has he caught any fish, or is he just thinking about the next novel he is going to write...This is how I felt when I wrote "STEPS". What was Scott thinking when he was in the garage, attempting suicide. Did he feel chilled? Was it quiet, dark? Was he afraid of what he was about to do? The author has lived with his wife Vikki in northeast Pennsylvania for the past 12 years. It is here where he has a small following of people who enjoy his work. Prior to this he was a resident of New Jersey for 33 years. While attending college he had several short stories published by the college press and did not write again until about four years ago. The author has worked in the computer field for over twenty years. The inspiration for his novel STEPS, came from an experience he had while teaching an RCIA class to teenagers at his local Catholic church.
