Information
My two main spheres of writing so far have been poetry and travelogues. I have been writing poetry for about 18 years, with influences as diverse as John Donne and Spike Milligan. I am usually inspired to write about something that has just happened to me that has made me laugh, cry or ponder the nature of the universe. I also like to give my own take on people from history (often artists) by writing a poem about some major event in their lives.
I started writing travelogues after a visit to Russia which was such an inspiring trip that I had to commit it to paper. I'd never considered travel writing before, so this was a journey in itself. I have since written about visits to Norway, Ukraine and Italy and am currently writing about Prague. These are personal accounts rather than guides, in the spirit of Bill Bryson.
