Tartessos was an ancient culture arose in South West of Andalusia (Spain). The archelogical remains of that culture are scarce... but still more scarce are the musical ones. This fact motivated Ángel Román Ramírez to investigate 'The Music in Tartessos and in Pre-Roman Peoples of Iberia', as the title of his work says: La Música en Tartessos y en los Pueblos Prerromanos de Iberia (Raleigh, NC: Lulu Enterprises, 2009. ISBN: 978-1-4452-5568-2). It's an investigation which exhibe the hypothesis of how music should have sounded in Ancient Spain and in Pre-Roman Andalusia, making a complicated exercise of 'compared Musicology' between the indigenous communities (first, Tartesians and later Iberians) and the colonizing ones: Phoenicians, Greeks, Carthaginians and Romans.
