An English major with a focus on creative writing becomes a History major with a focus on news writing.  The biggest difference?  The winners have more stories after crushing their opponents. Good luck landed me in museum work and the lively writing of object cataloging.  "Hardwood; shaped seat; turned legs, footed; splat back."  I took a seat. The change-up came with an illness, but not mine.  A family member was at the end of life.  His doctor gave him two days to live.  I brought him home for a final send off.  Except he didn't die. Using the methods I learned in athletics, the Army, and a good old all-American small town upbringing, I turned his life around.  I didn't ask if he wanted it turned around, it was just the right thing to do. That single act transformed my focus on the world.  One person can make a difference.  The prevailing wisdom isn't always the best path to follow.  Do the right thing by your standards and live with the results.

Made the quarter finals in the BlueCat script contest with Flying Home, a story about the end of WWII in the Pacific based on real events.
