I have spent many years working in the IT industry, for such diverse companies as a brewer, a number of banks, a mobile phone company and a mail order company. This included successfully operating my own consultancy for over ten years. A keen amateur cricketer, I also established an independent national fantasy cricket competition with the help of my wife Sally. I published the informative and occasionally humorous newsletter for my local cricket club for many years, and I have also contributed both content and editorial to other newsletters. I developed another string to my bow by conducting after dinner speeches, both for my local cricket club and the wider audience of the local cricket league. More recently I have started working as a freelance journalist, writing articles for various local publications, and in 2009 I was privileged to be able to interview rockabilly legend Sleepy Labeef, following which I published an article and review in the Reading Chronicle. Originally from Sale, in Cheshire, I now live in the more peaceful surroundings of Whaley Bridge in the Peak District. It seems that whenever life gets too quiet something comes along to speed it up again. Ive agreed to do a speech to the local cricket league at the end of November (300 drunken men - and its supposed to be humourous), and my cards have arrived promoting Ole And Zac And The Port Of Tumbattle for the Red House Childrens Book Award - so I'd better get promoting!
