My background is in psychology, and I worked with clients for nearly 18 years before taking time off to raise my children and obtain a doctorate in Special Education Administration.  I've always wanted to write, and this seemed like the perfect time to do it.  I started out selling mental health/relationship articles to print and online magazines, and went from that to short stories.  A novel seemed like the next logical step. I'm fascinated by our thought processes as we go through life.  What leads us to make the decisions we make?  How might things have turned out differently if we'd made different choices?  I try to explore this in my writing by developing characters that have tough choices to make.

Appalachian Justice was a Dan Poynter's Global Ebook Gold Medal winner in 2013, as well as a finalist for the University of North Carolina-Wilmington's Synergy Program. Blessed Are the Wholly Broken is currently a semi-finalist for the 2014 Kindle Ebook Award and just received a wonderful review in Publishers Weekly.
