In 1936, our town was celebrating its Centennial. I was one of the elementary students who would march in the parade carrying a small American flag (with 48 stars). We were marshalled next to an old man in a classic open touring car who was celebrating his centennial.  He leaned over the side of the car and said "when I was a boy like you I seen a old man in a buggy in the Independence Day Parade who claimed he was in the American Revolution." As kids, we had no need to verify this, but it is chronologically possible.  From that day, history for me, has been inhabited by real people.  I graduated high school with a major in history, math, science, and english, and a minor in latin. As I grew older I was dismayed to find youngsters graduating with a major in "feelgood" and no idea of what made this country great. After graduation from the U. of Wisconsin I spent a career in engineering. On retirement, I wrote some poems and short stories, for the amazement and amusement of my grandchildren, that were published. I then set out to write essays on America's greatness and from there, my book: "Tainted Legacy" was born.

I have had poems and short stories published. I'm a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois. Graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Hold patents.
