After my husband was diagnosed with cancer in 1988 I began writing out of self defense. I had to have something to pass the time in the hospitals etc., so I wrote. In 1991 I met Linda George who asked if I wanted to join a writers group. Of course I did. There I met my best friend, Joanne Horn. She was the best friend of my best friend's mother when I was in high school. She has supported my writing ever since. Through her I met other writers who have really helped and influenced my writing. Robyn Conley O'Brien introduced me to my first publisher, Ginnie Bivona, and my writing career exploded from there. My first book came out in 2001and has sold over 5,000 copies and the other 4 are not far behind. I credit my success to these wonderful ladies. I now own a cafe and I write while raising a teenage granddaughter. We have a lot of fun, especially when I read her my latest project. She is about to start college in the fall and is entering the Agricultural Communication and Journalism field. I live on the family farm with my husband of nearly 40 years, my granddaughter Reba, two dogs, Oscar & Chevoh, Felix the cat and three horses; Bucky, Popcorn, and Fancy. We have 27 cows that all have thier own names and one old grouchy bull.

My first award was from the Golden Triangle Writers Guild for begining writers. I suppose the most cherished was the OWFI's Fred Bean Memorial Award, because Fred Bean was a good friend of mine. I have won national awards for my writing with the GFWC Women's Clubs.
